Product Review: Charles Worthington Brilliant Shine Conditioner

Dear Friends

I have tried the Charles Worthington Brilliant Shine Conditioner with crystal extract and would like to share with you my thoughts.

First of all, lets look at the interesting caption on the reverse of the bottle.

The caption says:
You want : A strikingly shiny boost to your hair's natural shine

You need : This ultra-glossing conditioner, with Crystal extract, instantly revitalises dull hair with high shine conditioning agents that boost hair's natural shine by up to 80% whilst smoothing and detangling

Result: Hair is left soft, silky smooth and infused with brilliant shine

By referring to the picture above, you can see that the product has a super smooth texture, not too thick, not too thin, just nice.

 Rating for the texture: 4.5/5

This product has a pleasant scent, not too strong or overpowering.

Rating for the Scent: 4/5

My friend whom I let her be my guinea pig to try out this conditioner gave a very interesting comment.
After using this product, she said : "Wow, I feel like I just went to the hair salon!". That is exactly the philosophy of Charles Worthington hair care range : "Salon Result at Home". I did not even reveal this tagline to her and she can say it just like that. I was thrilled when I heard her comments and in my mind I was thinking, "Wow! Charles Worthington's products lives up to their philosophy indeed!", even the first time user can say it correctly! I am truly amazed.

As for myself, I love how smooth my hair feels after using this CW Brilliant Shine conditioner. My hair looks extra shiny and can be combed easily while it is still wet.

Rating for Product Efficacy: 4/5
Who would I recommend?
I strongly recommend this conditioner to those who want to add extra shine to their "lifeless" hair.

Retail price: RM29.90 for 250ml
Available at all Watsons stores in Malaysia.
Do check them out. The conditioner is also available in 75ml for RM9.90. You can try the smaller size first before getting the regular size.

Till then, thanks for reading my review and stay tune for more reviews on Charles Worthington.

Product Review: Origins Dr Andrew Weil's Plantidote Mega Mushroom Range

Dear Readers

I will be sharing with you a long outstanding post on my Origins Skin Care that I have tried. All products are my own purchase. I bought them on separate ocassions.

This range is for people with sensitive skin. I have sensitive and oily skin, therefore, I tried them and would like to share with you in case you want to know more.

As you can see, below is a picture of my small collection of Origins Dr Weil's Skin Care:

1. Origins Plantidote Mega Mushroom Skin Calming Face Mask that I love. Do click here for my review.

2. Origins Plantidote Mega Mushroom Facial cleanser. Click here for my review

3. Origins Plantidote Mega Mushroom Treatment Lotion (it's a Toner). (Reviewed in this post)

4. Origins Plantidote Mega Mushroom Face Serum (Reviewed in this post)

5. Origins Plantidote Mega Mushroom Body Cream (Reviewed in this post)

6. Origins Plantidote Mega Mushroom Eye Serum (Reviewed in this post)

The Main Ingredients in Origins Mega Mushroom range are listed below:
Hypsizygus ulmarius, cordyceps, Reishi Mushroom, Ginger, Tumeric and Holy Basil to calm soothe and defend the skin againsts aging.

Origins Plantidote Mega Mushroom Treatment Lotion (200ml for RM130)
(I did not have the individual product picture here, please refer to the "group photo" above, the bottle on the extreme right)

This toner has a very pleasant natural smell of herbs. It is a hydrating and calming toner that is good for sensitive skin. I love this toner as it really calms redness on my skin especially if I do my own facial extraction. I just need to soak the cotton pad and placed it on my face with red patches for 10 -15 mins and the redness will be reduced.

What follows after the toner is the Mega Mushroom face mask which I reviewed earlier here. This mask is one of the best that I have tried. I am into my 2nd tube (I seldom repurchase mask, so you know that this is really good). This mask is able to take away 80% of the redness on my skin after facial extraction. This mask is also good for hydration and soothing sensitive skin. If you have similar skin condition like me, you must try this. Get a sample before your buy because the mask is RM190 for 100ml (still cheaper than the IDI Multi Action Mask that I reviewed earlier).

Mega Mushroom Eye Serum (15ml for RM200)

This picture was taken to show you the product texture. This serum has creamy texture.

This eye serum does not stand out despite its hefty price tag. Other than moisturizing my eye area it does not help in reducing dark circle. I only tried the 5ml GWP, so it may be a premature verdict.

Origins Plantidote Mega Mushroom Face Serum
(30ml RM240, 50ml RM330)

The Face Serum is actually quite good in calming and hydrating my skin. As I have oily skin, I used it at night together with  the Face Cream below. This face serum has a very creamy texture and a distinctive mushroom scent. According to Origins booklet, this face serum is good for people with Rosacea.

Origins Plantidote Mega Mushroom Face Cream (50ml for RM290)

This face cream is actually a day cream but it is too rich for me to use it during the day as I have oily skin. So, I used it at night after the serum. My skin feels smooth and hydrated the next morning. It leaves my face oily the next moring but it's fine as I need to cleanse my face anyway. Actually, another product in this range i.e Night Health Bedtime Face Cream is better than this one because it is a night cream and it delivers better hydrating effect. Even though I have oily skin, it did not break me out. I was given a small sample to try out earlier but did not buy it as it cost RM300 for 50ml.

Origins Plantidote Mega Mushroom Body Cream (200ml for RM200)

This body cream has a distinctive scent which I do not know how to describe. It smells like mushroom & herbs I guess. The texture is non-oily and easily absorbed to the skin. I quite like the smell as it is calming to the senses and helps me to relax and unwind after a tired day. However, due to my laziness, I seldom use it and I am still having 1/2 a jar to go. Looks like it will go to my mom soon. It's really an irony, you see I seldom use body lotion but I love to purchase them. Do you have the same habit?

My Overall thoughts on Origins Platidote Mega Mushroom range:

This is a good product range for sensitive skin. One thing that stands out in Origins Mega Mushroom range is the:
- Botanical/herbal scent
- the smooth texture of the product that is easily absorbed into the skin

Based on my personal experience using this range, my skin does not have any bad reaction e.g. pimples or allergy. I find that my skin is soothed from within. However, due to the steep pricing, it may not be an affordable range for many people. I have actually finished all the products except the toner, the body cream and the face mask.

If you have the budget, I would highly recommend to you the face mask and the toner if you have sensitive and dehydrated skin.

This is the longest product review post so far and I hope you enjoy reading them.

Thanks for visiting and have a lovely week.

Product Review: H2O SPA Hydrating Body Butter

Dear Friends,

Today I will share with you on H2O SPA Hydrating Body Butter.

Product description:
A super-intensive moisture cream for the ultimate hydration of dry, depleted skin. Provide maximum retention of hydration and improved skin suppleness. Creamy silk texture penetrates deeply to condition and revitalize skin’s appearance.

Some of the Ingredients that caught my attention:
Japanese Green tea, Paraguay tea, seaweed extract and Vitamin E, Coconut Oil, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Camellia Sinensis leaf juice, Shea butter, .
I think the ingredients are quite natural despite some perservative

My thoughts:
Product texture: very light and not oily, easily absorbed into the skin. Skin doesn’t feel oily but comfortable and soft

Product scent: It has a distinctive green tea smell which is quite refreshing.

Product Rating : 4/5

Price: not sure of its retail price. I bought it during a warehouse sale last year. It comes with a body scrub.

Honestly, I think this is a good product suitable for dry skin. As you know I am lazy to apply body lotion. So, naturally after trying the product for review purposes, this tube goes to my mom who loved it. One day she had a minor burn on her leg caused by hot water. So, she used this body butter for a few times and the skin just healed within 2 days without having any scar or pain. (She shared her experience with me after she was healed not wanting me to worry about her.) So, I think this product is really good. I am not saying that it can heal burn but this was my mom’s good experience with this product.

So, if you are looking for a fairly good body butter, this could be the one that you can try out. Who knows you may fall in love with it.

Thanks for reading.

Product Review: Clinelle Blemish Clear

Dear Friends

I will share with you a brief product review on Clinelle Blemish Clear.

How I use this product to treat minor pimple:
As a person with very oily skin, it is not uncommon to have pimples. So, what I usually do is to cleanse my face and apply this product on my skin, gently rubbing it into the skin. If it is a minor pimple, it will go off within 3 days. This product is not drying to my skin. The picture here is taken with the old formula (clear gel). The new formula is an opaque gel. The new formula works well too.

Lavender essential oil, aloe barbadensis leaf extract, salicylate acid

Rating for product effectiveness: 4/5
Rating for product packaging: 4/5
Will I repurchase: Yes, this is my 3rd tube, I used up a tube a year

So, for those of you with similar problem, you may want to try this inexpensive yet effective product.

Thanks for reading.

Product Review: Clinique Youth Surge

Dear Friends

I have a short product review to share with you. Today I'll talk about the Clinique Youth Surge. I have tried this sample day cream with SPF15 PA++.

Product texture: Creamy (not suitable for my oily skin. My face turned shinny after 1 hour, too bad)
I believe people with normal to dry skin will love this product

Product scent: to me it smells a little like plastic

Personally I think in terms of free sampling, Clinique is one of the most generous brand. This is a 7ml sample given to me without any purchase.

As a day cream, I think SPF15 is rather too low for the Malaysian hot weather. We may still get sun burn/pigmentation if we do not top up with a good sun block. I don't quite understand why they bother to create only SPF 15 which does not make much sense. Anyone has a good explanation, pls share. In my opinion this is like giving some coverage but "half heartedly". Sorry if any Clinique representative is reading my post now, would you care to share the reason behind the low SPF in this day cream?

Anyway, have a lovely weekend! and thanks for your lovely visit.

Product Review: IDI Multi Action Mask

Dear Friends

This is a super hectic week with many deadlines at office. However, I will share with you a product which I think is worth sharing.

I bought this IDI Multi Action Mask last year during the workshop. I got a RM50 discount voucher and decided to purchase this mask. The price before discount is RM186 for 50ml (if I remember correctly). It is a bit pricy for a drug store brand.

around RM186 for 50ml

List of ingredients:

I have been using this mask at least 2 times in a month and am very pleased with it. Therefore, I may repurchase if there is a deal.

The product description:
A multi-action, fragrance free formula, gently and effectively cleanses and moisturises the skin while purifying and reducing excess sebum without stripping away skin's natural moisture. It soothes and replenishes skin's moisture to minimize visible signs of ageing and restore natural radiance.
Purify and soothe sensitive skin, refereshes and brightens skin

Recommended to use once a week, apply for 15-20mins avoiding eye area, rinse with water.

Did the product deliver as promised?
Yes, my skin feels clean and moisturised after each use. It looks brighter too.
What I like is the cooling sensation even after the mask is washed off. The cooling effect stays for 20 mins or so. Suitable for the hot climate. It is very easy to rinse the product and my face feels so refreshing after each use.

The active ingredients:
Shea Butter, Aloe vera extract, glycolic acid, it also has dimethicone

IDI product is from Italy and it was established since 1858 by dermatologists. So, if you have oily and sensitive skin like me, I would recommend this mask to you.

Have you tried this mask before? Pls share and thanks for your visit.

Product Review: Biotherm White D-Tox Corrective Makeup Base with SPF25 PA++

Hi Friends

Today I will be sharing a review on the Biotherm White D-Tox Corrective Makeup Base with SPF25 PA++. This is not a new product. In fact, I think they have changed the packaging. I got 3 bottles all together during the December 2010 Loreal warehouse sale. I bought 3 different types i.e. Instant Lightening (Pink), Instant Anti Redness (Green) and White (for normal skin I think). I have been using this product for 3-4 months now and its time to share with you my thoughts.

My thoughts
I think this is a great makeup base for normal to dry skin. As I have oily skin, it makes my face a bit shiny after 2 to 3 hrs.

The product has a creamy texture which I fret but it still worked for me with the help of blotting paper.

I like this product despite its creamy texture because it gives a healthy glow to my skin. After applying my skincare I go straight to apply this makeup base followed by loose powder/pressed powder. I hardly use liquid foundation or 2 way cake as I don't like the heavy look. Even though my skin has many imperfections due to severe acne, I still choose not to cover them up. I am able to accept and love how I look and really thank God for the ability to do so.

I only took the picture of the Pink one. Overall, it has some shimmer and if I apply on its own without mixing the Green one, I will look greasy even before the product oils up. So, I will mix the Pink and the Green to balance up the shimmer. This way, it gives my face a healthy glow.

A word of caution: It contains Dimethicone (a type of silicon commonly used to give products especially makeup base/cream a smooth texture). If you are allergic to this ingredients, you may want to avoid this product.

I did a product oil content test. I applied a small amount of the product on the blotting paper. After 7 hours, Can you see the oil shadow?

My mom however loves this product and gives it a thumbs up. This is because she has normal skin. So, I would recommend this product to those with normal to dry skin.

So far the best sunblock/makeup base that I have tried is Biore. It has super good oil control properties but it contains dimethicone also. You can read my review here. I came across Biore when a reader put a comment in my blog. You know who you are. I thank you for this great recommendation as Biore is RM20 plus and it is a great product for oily skin people. It is a sunblock with SPF50 PA+++.

Anyone has any good experience about any Makeup base or sunblock? Do share. Who knows.... I may find another Jewel product!

Have a lovely day!
