Product Review; Human Heart Nature - All Natural Lip Balm

Dear My Beauty Buddies,

I owe you an apology for the MIA. This month I only managed to write 3 posts including this. I have been doing a lot of reading recently and I have finished reading more than 4 books already. Among the books that I have read are by Jodi Picoult (2 books), Sophie Kinsella (2 books) Allie Spencer (1 book) and Dave Pelzer (1 book).  Some are hilarious but some are really sad especially the one written by Dave Pelzer, it was his own story of his childhood where he lived with his abusive mother. OK, will do a short review another time.

Today, I'll be sharing with you an organic lip balm by Human Heart Nature. This product is from the Philippines. The lip balm that was sent to me is the Peppermint one.

Before: My lower lip is dry and you can see the peeled skin

After 3-4 days: My lips are back to normal (This pic shows my lip without lip balm, the peeling is gone)

I give this lip balm a thumbs up because:

1. there is no mineral oil, petrolatum or paraffin
2. It hydrates my dry lips and heals peeling lips
3. The mint flavour is refreshing
4. it is made from a blend of cocoa butter and pure plant oils

There are 3 flavours to choose from -  Tutti Frutti / Peppermint / Choco Fudge
Cost : RM10

Ingredients: Ricinus communis (Castor) seed oil, Beeswax, Theobroma cacao (Cocoa) seed butter, Caprylic/Capric Trigylceride, Helianthus annus (Sunflower) seed oil, Calendula officinalis (Calendula) extract, Rosmarinus officinalis (Rosemary) extract, Tocopherol (natural vitamin E) (+/-): Mentha piperita (Peppermint) essential oil, Menthyl lactate, Organic flavor oil, Theobroma cacao (Cocoa), Zinc oxide (CI 77947), Manganese Violet (CI 77742), Iron Oxide (CI 77491)

If you are interested to get one, please visit this site.

Thanks for reading and I'll try to put up another post soon.

Product Review: Clinelle Moisturizing Lip Balm SPF36

Dear Friends,

I do not know whether you've experienced dry, chapped lips before. If you live in a cold country, you would have encountered extreme dry lips during winter season. Although I live in Malaysia where we do not have 4 seasons, the dry weather is often the culprit to my dry lips problem and not forgetting that most of us worked in air-conditioned office. The air-cond not only caused dehydration to our skin, our lips are no exception.

I have experience extreme dry lips to a point where my lips cracked and bled. It was very painful. Therefore, I always apply lip balm whenever possible.

Product Description

A moisture rich lip solution especially formulated to gently moisturize, soothe and protect the lips from harful ultraviolet rays.Ideal for dry and chapped lips.

Main Ingredients

Capric Triglyceride, castor oil, shea butter, Microcrystaline Wax, Silica, Titanium Dioxide

My Review

  1. Clinelle lip balm is very moisturizing to the lips. Immediately after application, my lips felt moist and comfortable.
  2. It does not have any weird taste. The moisturizing effect is quite long lasting. I am quite sure that it is due to the ingredient called Microcrystaline Wax in the formula. My lips are moist even after eating and gentle wiping. This is definitely a plus point as I do not need to reapply so frequently.
  3. The packaging is good as it is easy to use.
  4. Has UVA and UVB protection

Like
Non-comedogenic, no artificial color/fragrance, no lanolin, no mineral oil, no SD-Alcohol

Dislike
Contains Propyl Paraben

Product Rating

4.5/5

Tips for dry lips

  1. Apply lip balm before going to bed
  2. Do not lick your lips

I bought this lip balm for RM7 during Guardian warehouse sales last year. I will be done with the product in 3 months time as I use it daily. I would recommend this lip balm to those who have dry lips.

Have you tried Clinelle lip balm before? Do share what is your favourite lip balm.

Product Review: Shills Instant Pink Lips Pack

Shills Instant Pink Lips Pack is an interesting products for those who are interested to tint their lips an lightens their areolas. In the pack, there are 2 tubes. One contains a whitish liquid and the other contains a pinkish liquid.

The white liquid helps to lighten the lip colour. Some smokers may have darken lips and can try using this to lighten their lips. A better way is to quit smoking. It is tough but it is not impossible with strong will power. We will not go further with the discussion here.

I have tried both the colors and like the pink one better mainly because I do not have dark lips, thankfully.

My lips turned slightly pink lips after 5 to 10 mins
This product is suitable for those who have pale lip color and do not want to use lipstick. This is an option for you.

The formula of Shills lip pack is safe for consumption. So, there is no worry that you swallow them together with yoru food and drinks.

So, if you like to have a natural pinkish lips, you can visit Shills outlet and find out more about this product.

Product Review: Blistex Complete Moisture Lip Balm

Dear Friends

It has been a while since I wrote a product review.

I have been using the Blistex Complete Moisture Lip Balm for a few months now. I came across Blistex in the early 1990's when I was working for the local drug store/ pharmacy while waiting for my exam results.

Well, I must say that I tried looking for this brand high and low and one day I saw it at Watsons but they only have one variety. The one that I am looking for is the mint flavour. Nevertheless, I grabbed it.

I had a very bad chapped lips a while ago, my lips cracked and bled. It had since improved after seeing the doctor and after applying this lip balm every few hours. I tote this around and apply on my lips regularly. I also apply it before I go to bed.

Product description:
Complete Moisture is formulated with moisturising ingredients that actually penetrate into dry lips, instead of just sitting on the surface.

Good Ingredients (in my opinion) that caught my eyes :
jojoba esters, lecithin, squalene

Some not so good ingredients that I spotted in the ingredient list:
3 types of parabens & petrolatum

My review:
I love the texture of Blistex Complete Moisture. It has a very fresh lemony/citrus taste. It glides smoothly onto the lips and is able to seal in some moisture to a certain degree. It also has sunscreen i.e. oxybenzone and octinoxate.

Rating for flavour: 4/5
Rating for effectiveness: 3.5/5

However, I must warn you that this product contains 2% (w/w) of dimethicone. If you are alergic to dimethicone (a type of silicon normally used in beauty products like moisturiser, sunblock / face cream/serum), you may want to skip this product.

I am quite satisfied with this lip balm and will be on the lookout for the Mint flavour. If anyone of you spot the Mint variant, please let me know.

Thanks and have a lovely week ahead!

Product Review: Origins Lip Balm

Dear Friends

I have finished using this Origins lip balm which I received as a free gift when I purchased the Origins Christmas Skincare set back in 2009. I received 2 colors and finished this one during Dec 2010. This picture was taken before I finished using it.

I have many lip balms and this is one of my favorites. However, I don't see this product at the counter. So, I think it is just a special edition product for the Christmas season. Anyone of you know whether it is available at the counter?

You cannot really see the color. It has a slight shimmery pearl

In my opinion, this lip balm serves the purpose of moisturising my lips. It is not sticky and has a nice flavour. I love it. I use it several times a day in the office. As I wipe off my lip balm before I eat, I reapply many times in a day.

My Rating:

Rating for Flavour/Scent: 4/5
Rating for Product Texture:4.5/5
Rating for Product Packaging: 4/5
Rating for Product Effectiveness: 4/5
Price: unavailable

What brand of lip balm are you using now? Thanks for sharing.
