Product Review: Esmeria Organics Prickly Pear SOS Rescue Cream

Dear Friends,

Do you attract mosquitoes? I am very prone to mosquito bites, maybe because my blood is sweet or my body temperature is just right for the blood sucking creatures?

I won this Esmeria Organics Prickly Pear SOS Rescue Cream a few months ago and have been putting it into good use especially at night. As I am writing this post, I can feel the aftermath of the mosquitoes' attack - very itchy skin. So, I stop for a while and apply some SOS cream.

Like:

1. Nice Tea Tree Oil smell

2. not sticky

3. very effective to calm the skin down - after 5 mins of application, mosquito bites will subside, the redness will go away within 30 mins

4. Suitable for babies (organic ingredients)

5. Can be used for pimples, scratches, grazes, insect bites and other small wounds

Active ingredients: Australian tea tree oil (fight bacteria), aloe vera (soothing), Portulaca extract (healing).

The combination of the active ingredients helps to reduce inflammation and promote rapid recovery.

My Rating : 5/5

 

My Recommendation:

This is the most handy SOS cream for mosquito bites that I have ever come across so far. 

I am so happy because this is an organic product with ECO Cert.

I am also very proud to say that Esmeria Organics is a high quality Malaysian product. Hope they can create more products. Let's support them.

Product Review; Human Heart Nature - All Natural Lip Balm

I owe you an apology for the MIA. This month I only managed to write 3 posts including this. I have been doing a lot of reading recently and I have finished reading more than 4 books already. Among the books that I have read are by Jodi Picoult (2 books), Sophie Kinsella (2 books) Allie Spencer (1 book) and Dave Pelzer (1 book).  Some are hilarious but some are really sad especially the one written by Dave Pelzer, it was his own story of his childhood where he lived with his abusive mother. OK, will do a short review another time.

Today, I'll be sharing with you an organic lip balm by Human Heart Nature. This product is from the Philippines. The lip balm that was sent to me is the Peppermint one. 

Before: My lower lip is dry and you can see the peeled skin

After 3-4 days: My lips are back to normal (This pic shows my lip without lip balm, the peeling is gone)

I give this lip balm a thumbs up because:

1. there is no mineral oil, petrolatum or paraffin

2. It hydrates my dry lips and heals peeling lips

3. The mint flavour is refreshing 

4. it is made from a blend of cocoa butter and pure plant oils

Product Review: Sukin Facial Scrub

Dear Beauty Buddies

Have you seen this brand before? I came across Sukin last year and I have tried their facial cleanser and Scrub. It is an inexpensive Organic product from Australia.

I can't remember the price of this scrub but it is around RM20 - RM30. I bought it together with the facial cleanser and have been loving both the products. Sorry for the delayed sharing as I have so many other products to review. ha.ha..

The only thing I dislike is the packaging - the cap cannot close properly

Product Review: Tebe Skincare

Have you heard of Tebe, an organic skincare product from New Zealand? Tebe was launched in Malaysia last year.

Just a few weeks ago, I was handed 3 products for review. After using the products for several weeks, I felt that it is time to share with you my thoughts.

My review:

This day cream has a very creamy texture but it is not oily. As I have very oily skin, I only use a tiny amount for my face and neck. The cream absorbs very easily and does not leave any sticky feeling. Although my skin is naturally oily, Tebe Day Cream does not turn my face into an oil slick. I gues it must be due to the good formulation. After 4 hours of application, my face looks shiny but it is not extremely oily which is very surprising to me. I just need to use a blotter to absorb the shine. Tebe day cream does not clog my pores and I do not suffer from any breakouts.

My Recommendation:

In my personal opinion, Tebe Face Day Cream would be very suitable for people with normal/dry/matured skin. For those who live in cold countries, this day cream will be very handy during winter or when your skin is under a dry spell.

My suggestion:
I would like to suggest that Tebe create a lighter version of the day cream, maybe a gel base moisturiser for Oily skin. That will be great.

My review:

Tebe Face Night Cream has a thicker consistency as compared to the day cream. It is not oily although it is very creamy. This night cream absorbs very quickly into my skin despite its creamy texture. Similar with the day cream, I only need to use a small amount. I am very pleased with the night cream as it leaves my skin hydrated.

My Recommendation:

Tebe Face Night Cream will benefit people with normal/dry/matured skin and even those with oily skin like me. For those who sleeps in an air-conditioned room, this cream will prevent dehydration.

Tebe Face Cleansing Milk

My review:

Tebe Face Cleansing Milk is a very concentrated milk cleanser suitable for all skin types. I only used 2 pumps to clean my whole face and neck. I found that this cleansing milk can remove very light eye makeup as well. As with other cleansing milk, I double cleanse using another gel cleanser.

My Overall Opinion about Tebe's products

1. Only very little products is required, a little goes a long way

2. Organic ingredients are used (Key ingredients - oilve fruit oil and olive leaf extract from Simunovich Olive Estate 

3. If you scan through the list of ingredients for each product, you will notice that most of the ingredients are plant based.

4. No parabens

5. No animal testing

6. No strong perfume smell can be traced, the products smell like natural plant extract

Product Sampling Review: Jurlique Daily Exfoliating Cream

I am sure some of you may have heard about Jurlique, an Australian organic skincare brand. Jurlique is available here in Malaysia and at SkincareRx too. Jurlique takes pride in their products because accordingly they grow the herbs and flowers and harvest them by hand. The ingredients are obtained from their own certified organic and biodynamic farms.

Product Description:

Jurlique Daily Exfoliating Cream is a daily non-granular exfoliating cream, rich in oats, almonds and honey to loosen and lift away dead skin cells. It promised to leave the skin deeply cleansed, smooth and radiant.

How to use:

Apply a generous amount to wet hands and form a smooth paste. apply paste to the face in a press-release motion, avoiding eye area. rinse well with warm water.

My review:

Like

1. organic ingredients is good for the skin

2. Can smell the ingredients - almost feel like eating them. The smell is calming and I think they added some essential oil (sorry, I don't have the ingredients list)

3. Moisturising to the skin

4. Sensitive skin will sure to benefit because there is no harsh scrubbing involved

Dislike

1. Not sure whether the skin is properly scrubbed because there is no granules (as specified in the product). I am not used to non-granular scrub

Who would I recommend?

I would recommend this product to people with dry or sensitive skin. Normal skin will benefit too.

Product Review: Esmeria Organics (Part 2) - Eye Gel, Shower Gel & Body Lotion

Today is the 2nd part of my review and I will be sharing with you yet another 3 Esmeria Organics products.

Esmeria Organics Ultimate 5 Effect Eye Gel

The Shower gel is very watery but concentrated

1. Like the smell of essential oil in this shower gel

2. Not drying to the skin and not very foamy because it does not contain the harmful ingredient SLES/SLS

3. Need only a small amount to clean the whole body (Although it is watery, the gel is very concentrated)

4. Active Ingredients: aloe vera leaf juice, prickly pear extract, lavender oil, parfum made from essential oil

Protective Body Wash - 250ml RM29.90

Esmeria Organics Prickly Pear Protective Body Lotion (for normal skin)

The lotion is soothing to the skin and has a pleasant smell

Like

1. Not oily but absorbs easily into the skin

2. Can feel that there is a protective layer on my skin

3. has a very soothing & sweet smell

4. The lotion soothes my skin after mosquito bites. The redness and itchiness reduces after 20 mins. I think that it is due to the essential oil in the lotion

5. Active Ingredients: aloe vera leaf juice, shea butter fruit, sunflower seed oil, rosehip fruit oil, prickly pear extract, butterfly bush extract, thyme extract, lavender oil, ylang ylang oil, geranium oil, parfum made from essential oil

Product Review: Esmeria Organics (Part 1)

I am sure some of you have heard of Esmeria Organics. Esmeria Organics is made in Malaysia. I am really happy because this is the first Malaysian skincare brand that is certified organic by EcoCert, the French-based international organic certification body known for its stringent certification standards. Esmeria Organics not only is the first Malaysian company to receive EcoCert’s stamp of approval but also the first in South East Asia. I am so proud to know this.

For those who are not aware, EcoCert requires that 95% of the ingredients used in any product to be of natural origin and has extremely strict restrictions on what is allowed in the remaining 5%. Furthermore, for a product to be certified organic, 95% of the plant ingredients must be of certified organic origin.

For those who are living in Malaysia, you will find that Organic skin care products are very expensive as most of them are imported from overseas. As a lover of organic products, I am really thrilled to learn that we finally have a home grown organic skin care range that has EcoCert certification without the hefty price tag!

At first I do not appreciate why the facial cleanser is not in a pump packaging as the texture is very fluid and difficult to control the amount to dispense. However, after reading the product literature provided by the PR company, I learnt that Esmeria Organics products are packaged in recyclable boxes and containers.  Products are only boxed where necessary and its packaging avoids the use of materials that are less environmentally friendly.  For example, pumps cannot be recycled as they contain metal and glass and although made from sand, it takes a lot of energy to produce and ship due to its weight.

The Esmeria Organics face care range can be personalized with the 3-step cleanse, tone and moisturize concept. Products are available for those with normal to oily skin, oily and acne-prone skin and dry skin.

The Glasswort range of skincare is for dry, dull and mature skin. Glasswort is found in the Mediterranean and Atlantic coasts. Its extract called Hydrasinol provides essential hydrating properties to hydrate, protect and reduce moisture loss. 

 

The Prickly Pear, which is a type of cactus, is for normal to oily skin or otherwise known as combination skin which is the most common skin type in Malaysia and Asian countries.  It hydrates, soothes and protects the skin from UV damage.  This is combined with other advanced bio actives to reduce the production of sebum especially on the T-zone.

The Alpine Willow Herb range is for oily and acne-prone skin. Acne and over-production of sebum is the result of environmental aggressors, blocked pores, bacteria and even overexposure to UV. The Alpine Willow Herb has capabilities to control production of sebum and acne-causing bacteria. It also protects from environmental aggressors and UV damage. According to Esmeria Organics, after continued use, skin will be visibly less oily and pores will become smaller.

As I have oily skin, I was sent the Alpine Willow Herb range for review.

I like the texture of the cleansing gel

What I like about Alpine Willow Herb Purifying Cleansing Gel?
1. A little goes a long way - I only need very little to cleanse the whole face
2. There is no tight feeling after using this cleanser. Therefore, this cleanser does not strip away the skin's natural moisture
3. The texture is clear and watery and it smells like a sweet herb
4. The cleanser does not have a lot of foam as it does not contain the harmful SLS
5. Natural plant based active ingredients: Aloe vera leaf juice, alpine willowherb extract, calendula officinalis flower extract, sweet orange oil, roman chamomile oil, sunflower seed oil, parfum made from essential oil
6. Affordable price - Alpine Willow Herb Purifying Cleansing Gel – 75 ml RM32.90

Note: Due to the watery texture, you must be more careful when dispensing the gel. The product packaging (the opening) is a little too big and may cause product wastage. Do not squeeze the tube as it will over dispense.

What I like about Alpine Willow Herb Purifying Toner?
1. I like the soothing & sweet herbal scent (parfum made from essential oil)
2. This toner is able to calm my acne prone skin. I had some acne recently and found that this toner is helpful to calm my skin
3. Natural plant based active ingredients: Aloe vera leaf juice, alpine willowherb extract, butterfly bush extract, thyme extract, calendula officinalis flower extract, sea water, green algae extract, sweet orange oil, roman chamomile oil, sunflower seed oil

1. The most outstanding must be the sweet smell. I think it reminds me of the "Leng chee kang" (a type of Chinese dessert) smell
2. The transparent gel texture is easily absorbed into the skin.There is no oily feel at all.

Product Review: Himalaya Organique Neem Facial Wash & Walnut Scrub

I am no stranger to Himalaya products but I have not seen their Organic skin care range before. Himalaya Organique is actually available at selected Himalaya boutique. As someone who loves organic skincare products, I am very pleased when contacted by a representative from Himalaya to try out the Himalaya Organique Purifying Neem Face Wash and Exfoliating Walnut Face Scrub.

Before I go on with the review, I would like to share with you some facts about Himalaya Organique that are worthy to be mentioned.

1. Himalaya Organique has obtained EcoCert certification. Only products that used 95% natural ingredients in the finished product will be able to obtain the EcoCert certification.

2. Himalaya Organique products are not tested on animals. It has the “leaping bunny logo” i.e. cruelty-free certification

3. The packaging is biodegradable/recyclable.

4. Himalaya Organique products are free from Parabens, Sodium Lauryl Sulphates and Sodium Laureth Sulphates (SLS and SLES), Phthalates, Petroleum and its derivatives a, silicones, synthetic fragrances or artificial colors.

5. Cold pressed method is used to extract the oils so that the potent anti-aging compounds are preserved.

I have tried both products and would like to share with you my views about them.

Himalaya Organique Puryfiying Neem Facial Wash

As you can see from the picture, the product is in a gel form. Being an oily skinned person, I always like my cleanser in gel form. 

Product description:

A soap free face wash formulated using organic herbs, essential oils and natural extracts that cleanser skin of excess oil and impurities.

The main ingredients:

Neem leaf extract, tumeric root oil, natural vitamin E

What I like about the Himalaya Organique Neem Facial Wash?

1. 98.7% of total ingredients are from natural origin
2. It has a herbal scent that originates from natural plant extracts
3. It does not foam because it does not have SLS but it cleanses well without drying the skin. There is no tight feeling after cleansing.
4. My skin feels soft after each wash
5. It is reasonably priced – RM39.90 for 150ml.
6. Free from artificial fragrance

What can be improved?

I have nothing to complain about this product. It would be great if the cleanser is in a pump transparent bottle so that I can see the balance of the products. This is just my personal preference but it is not a major issue.

Himalaya Organique Walnut  Facial Scrub

As you can see from the picture, the facial scrub has fine granules made from walnut seed.

Product description: A gentle scrub with extracts of walnut and woodapple that exfoliates blackheads, dead skin cells and deeply embedded impurities.

The main ingredients:

Walnut, wood apple, nutmeg powder, aloe, bael fruit

What I like about the Himalaya Organique Walnut Facial Scrub?

1. 98.7% of total ingredients are from natural origin
2. It has a very calming smell that orginates from natural plant extracts (smells like apple and cinnamon)
3. My skin feels soft after each use
4. It is reasonably priced – RM39.90 for 150ml.
5. Free from artificial fragrance

What can be improved?

I have nothing to complain about this product. However, I prefer the granules to be finer.

Why do I like products from organic source?

1. The ingredients used are from organic farming, therefore, it is earth friendly
2. Organic ingredients are safe for the skin. No harmful ingredients like parabens, SLS….. These synthetic ingredients that are present in most commercial products will irritate the skin and makes our skin becomes sensitive, dry or clog our pores.

Best of all, I think Himalaya Organique products are pocket-friendly. You get quality product for the money you spend.
