Redken Diamond Oil - Launch

Dear Friends

It's mid July already. What have you been up to? Hope that you still stick to your new year resolution ...forgotten already? It's time to do a mid-year review.

Alright. Not to bore you too much with my reminders. Today, I will share about the Redken Diamond Oil launch party which was held at Stage Club, Avenue K. It was my first time going to that place.

The event was interesting. There was a guessing game to guess how many ml of Diamond Oil which was stored in a large container. Too bad my guess was wrong. My math was a bit rusty and I forgot to times the 100ml despite the many reminders. I guess the music was too loud. (lame excuse).

For Fine Hair

For coarse hair
Redken Diamond Oil is silicon-free and it promises 3x stronger and 2x shinier hair. Diamond Oil contains coriander, camelina and apricot oils. Each oil has different molecular weight that allows them to penetrate deep into different layers of the hair fibre. It nourishes and strengthens hair strands from the inside out and leaves hair with intense, diamond-like shine.

Usage Direction:

Apply 2-3 drops on dry or damp hair concentrating on the mid-lengths and ends. Re-apply on dry hair as needed.

I have copied the usefeful FAQ for your reference:
What hair types is Diamond Oil recommended for?
Diamond Oil is perfect for dull/damaged hair. The Shatterproof Shine oils are extremely flexible products that can be paired with any of the ranges, shampoos, conditioners, or treatments within the Redken haircare portfolio for added shine and strength. Shatterproof Shine is for Normal-Fine hair and Shatterproof Shine Intense is for Coarse hair.

What is the Shine Strong Complex?
The Shine Strong Complex is a combination of Coriander Oil, Camelina and Apricot Oils. Coriander Oil smoothes just below the cuticle to boost shine. Camelina Oil fills in gaps at the peripheral layer to soften. Apricot Oil penetrates uniformly through multi-layers to the core to condition from the inside out.

What is the difference between the Apricot Oil in Clear Moisture and Diamond Oil?
Apricot Oil in Clear Moisture is synthesized with other key ingredients to work as a lightweight moisturizing ingredient and in Diamond Oil Apricot Oil penetrates uniformly through multi-layers to the core to condition from the inside out.

How do different types of oils penetrate the hair shaft while others sit on the cuticle?
Oils contain a mixture of fatty chains which are all different length and sizes. Oils with high content of small fatty chains penetrate into the cortex of the hair while oils that contain a high content of large fatty chains tend to lay on the surface of the hair fiber.

Are there oils that are better for fine hair versus coarse hair?
The combination of oils used in Diamond Oil (coriander, camelina and apricot) were optimized for different hair types, oils were mixed with specific ratios to provide the hair with shine and strength without adding weight or greasiness. The intense oil was optimized for coarse hair types and the medium oil was optimized for normal to fine hair types.

What are the characteristics or benefits of professional oils, i.e. better quality, higher concentration, or grade?
Diamond Oil contains no additives or modifiers. The treatment range consists of a concentrated blend of oils.

How do silicones and oils live together in the same product, what are the benefits of having both?
Oils and silicone are miscible and can coexist in the same product. Silicones offer great shine and feel on hair but their effect is mostly cosmetic. Oils offer shine along with repairing benefits due to their penetration into the hair fiber.

What is IPN? What products include IPN?
The Interlock Protein Network is the new Redken Haircare delivery system containing Keralink, Amino Acids and Protein to improve formula efficacy, help rebuild surface protection and strengthen hair to the core. It replaces the existing Interbond Conditioning System.

Why is IPN not included in Shatterproof Shine Oil?
IPN is in the Shampoo, Conditioner, and Deep Facets mask formulas. It is the delivery system that drives the ingredient in haircare. IPN is not in Shatterproof Shine Oils as the formula is 99% oils, and IPN is not soluble in oil.

Is this shampoo for everyday use? I have heard that shampooing everyday can lead to dull hair.
It is safe to use Diamond Oil shampoo daily, as it is formulated with oils and ingredients rich in nourishing and conditioning agents to ensure your hair is shiny and protected.

How does the Diamond Oil range protect my hair from mechanical damage?
Diamond Oil provides nourishment, conditioning and strength. Simultaneously, oils form a protective barrier on the surface of the hair, locking out humidity and harmful elements, and reducing the hair’s exposure to friction while combing, brushing, etc.

If oil remains on the surface of the hair, won’t it make my hair greasy and weigh it down?
The oil that resides closer to the surface of the hair, coriander oil, helps to seal the cuticle in a lightweight but powerful veil of moisture and shine that protects the hair against mechanical damage without feeling or appearing greasy or adding weight. (as a regimen)

Are there any silicones in the Shatterproof Shine Oils?
No, treatment oil contains no silicones and is comprised of 99% oils.

Is Diamond Oil safe for use on color treated hair?
Yes, the Diamond Oil range is safe for use on color treated hair, and will not lead to fading or discoloration, in fact it enhances the radiance of haircolor.

Avene Workshop with Vanity Trove

Dear Friends,

A few weeks ago, I was invited to Avene's event by Vanity Trove. The event was held at Cafe Barbera, Bangsar.

I was really amazed when I learnt that the Avene's Thermal Spring Water were bottled at the source at Avene Village in France. Therefore, all the original properties of Avene Thermal Spring Water are present in each spray. Wow! I was really excited to learn about how pure the water is. Due to its unique mineral content i.e. silica, calcium/magnesium and pH7.5, it is very suitable for soothing sensitive skin.

The Various Uses of Avene Thermal Spring Water
  • to set makeup
  • after shaving
  • diaper rash
  • eczema
  • itching
  • after surgery
  • after dermatological treatment
  • sunburn
  • rashes
  • after sport
After listening to the presentation, I would never look at this bottle the same way again.

Apart from the Thermal Spring Water, we were introduced to the various range of products from Avene. I did not realised that they have quite an impressive range of products for dehydrated skin, pigmentation skin, sensitive skin, normal skin and oily skin.

These are cleansers for sensitive skin.

I also learnt that Avene Thermal Spring Water can be sprayed on paper mask and applied on dehydrated face. First, you have to spray onto your face and apply the wet paper mask soaked with the Thermal Spring Water. You can spray on the cotton pad and cover your eyes. It's very cooling and refreshing to the skin.

The girls were enjoying their masking session.

Vanity Trove has prepared Avene products samples that suits my skin type. Thank you Vanity Trove for organizing the event. I am happy to learn something new.

Have a lovely day!
