Bencoolen Virgin Coconut Oil

Bencoolen Virgin Coconut Oil is a very useful oil. I bought this oil upon recomendation by Lilian.

The following are some of the ways to use the oil:
  1. It is a functional food. It can be eaten for weight loss purposes. One table spoon a day.
  2. It can be used as a makeup remover. Just wet the cotton pad and pour a few drops of oil onto the cotton pad. Wipe your face as normal and rinse with your normal cleanser. Effective to remove eye makeup and lipstick.
  3. Can be used a mask for face - it will moist your skin but sometimes can cause pimples if you have oily skin.
  4. Can be massaged to the scalp for hair growth.
  5. Can be used as hair oil.

For Malaysian readers, this Bencoolen Virgin Coconut Oil can be purchased at Jaya Jusco , 1 Utama Shopping Centre.

For more details on the benefits and how to purchase online, pls click here.

Price: RM45 for 100ml
Smell:  like coconut oil (obviously)
Will I repurchase: Most likely

Have u tried this perfume before?
Is it true that Perfume cannot be kept too long and will expire? How long can we keep a perfume before its fragrance is lost/changed ? 2 years?

Origins Plantidote™ Mega-Mushroom Face Mask

I purchased this Origins Plantidote™ Mega-Mushroom Face Mask few months ago and am very pleased with the mask. As my skin is sensitive and turned red very easily, I find that this mask is very useful especially after my own mini facial (i.e. extract blackhead).

Just need to apply 10 to 15 minutes and wash off.

The ingredients: Mega Mushroom Blend plus Chinese Black Bamboo Leaf extract, marine algae and moisture replenishing plant extracts that is clinically proven to reduce redness.

It is a bit pricy but it worked for me.

Price: 100ml for RM190
Rating : 4/5
Will I repurchase: Most likely
smell: not very pleasant, smells like herbs
skin type: for all skin types (It is also suitable for my oily skin)

Below is the quotation taken from Origins website:

Clinically proven to visibly reduce redness.

Too much sun, wind and dehydration. Too many hours on a plane, too many days burning the candle at both ends. With life so taxing, the list of daily stressors can easily go on and on. Effects accumulate, and your skin needs extra help to break the cycle. This creamy treatment mask with Hypsizygus ulmarius, Cordyceps and Reishi mushrooms along with Ginger, Holy Basil and Turmeric rushes relief to challenged skin to rapidly soothe signs of compromise. Chinese Black Bamboo Leaf Extract, celebrated for centuries as a symbol of eternal youth, quells and calms visible redness and reactivity. And a unique blend of marine algae and moisture-replenishing plant extracts helps revitalize and restore luminosity to stressed skin and rebuild a protective barrier to help avoid future flare-ups.

After one use:
• 92% of those tested agreed it helps uncomfortable, dry skin feel better.
• 84% of women said it provides comforting care to skin.
• 82% rated it extremely effective in hydrating their skin.

HOW TO USE: Use twice weekly. Apply liberally. Unwind for 10 minutes. Tissue off.

Lancome UV Expert Neuroshield

This is my current sunblock that I am using. Lancome UV Expert Neuroshield has UVA and UVB SPF 30.

It is a tinted sunblock. I quite like the texture. It provides a sheer base. I use this without using liquid foundation. This is my substitute for liquid foundation. However, the coverage is not very thorough but I am fine with it.

My rating: 3.5/5
Price: 30ml for RM145

What is your favorite sunblock?

Roselle Flower

Today I am sharing with you my Roselle plant in my garden. This flower can be eaten raw or cooked. It can be cooked in a crock pot for 3 - 4 hrs together with some rock sugar. You will get Roselle syrup. Chill the syrup and store in the fridge. You can consume like Ribena - very natural and refreshing drink.

I also make fruit enzyme from this Roselle flower. The bad news is the plant is attacked by some parasites lately and looked as though it is dying. I planted it more than 6 months ago and it just started to bear flower but unfortunately it is dying now. I believe that students earning an online biology degree would be able to advise me on how to take care of my Roselle plant so that it would not be easily attacked by parasites.

The picture below was taken 3 weeks ago when the plant is still healthy. I need to plant a new one soon.

The plant is quite bushy, the leaves can be eaten. The night market at Taman Tun sells the leaves of Roselle plant. I inquire from an Indian lady and she explained that it can be stir fried with garlic and chili. I have not tried cooking the leaves before.
