Product Review: Esmeria Organics Prickly Pear SOS Rescue Cream

Dear Friends,

Do you attract mosquitoes? I am very prone to mosquito bites, maybe because my blood is sweet or my body temperature is just right for the blood sucking creatures?

I won this Esmeria Organics Prickly Pear SOS Rescue Cream a few months ago and have been putting it into good use especially at night. As I am writing this post, I can feel the aftermath of the mosquitoes' attack - very itchy skin. So, I stop for a while and apply some SOS cream.

Like:
1. Nice Tea Tree Oil smell
2. not sticky
3. very effective to calm the skin down - after 5 mins of application, mosquito bites will subside, the redness will go away within 30 mins
4. Suitable for babies (organic ingredients)
5. Can be used for pimples, scratches, grazes, insect bites and other small wounds

Active ingredients: Australian tea tree oil (fight bacteria), aloe vera (soothing), Portulaca extract (healing).
The combination of the active ingredients helps to reduce inflammation and promote rapid recovery.

My Rating : 5/5

My Recommendation:
This is the most handy SOS cream for mosquito bites that I have ever come across so far.
I am so happy because this is an organic product with ECO Cert.

I am also very proud to say that Esmeria Organics is a high quality Malaysian product. Hope they can create more products. Let's support them.

Product Review; Human Heart Nature - All Natural Lip Balm

Dear My Beauty Buddies,

I owe you an apology for the MIA. This month I only managed to write 3 posts including this. I have been doing a lot of reading recently and I have finished reading more than 4 books already. Among the books that I have read are by Jodi Picoult (2 books), Sophie Kinsella (2 books) Allie Spencer (1 book) and Dave Pelzer (1 book).  Some are hilarious but some are really sad especially the one written by Dave Pelzer, it was his own story of his childhood where he lived with his abusive mother. OK, will do a short review another time.

Today, I'll be sharing with you an organic lip balm by Human Heart Nature. This product is from the Philippines. The lip balm that was sent to me is the Peppermint one.

Before: My lower lip is dry and you can see the peeled skin

After 3-4 days: My lips are back to normal (This pic shows my lip without lip balm, the peeling is gone)

I give this lip balm a thumbs up because:

1. there is no mineral oil, petrolatum or paraffin
2. It hydrates my dry lips and heals peeling lips
3. The mint flavour is refreshing
4. it is made from a blend of cocoa butter and pure plant oils

There are 3 flavours to choose from -  Tutti Frutti / Peppermint / Choco Fudge
Cost : RM10

Ingredients: Ricinus communis (Castor) seed oil, Beeswax, Theobroma cacao (Cocoa) seed butter, Caprylic/Capric Trigylceride, Helianthus annus (Sunflower) seed oil, Calendula officinalis (Calendula) extract, Rosmarinus officinalis (Rosemary) extract, Tocopherol (natural vitamin E) (+/-): Mentha piperita (Peppermint) essential oil, Menthyl lactate, Organic flavor oil, Theobroma cacao (Cocoa), Zinc oxide (CI 77947), Manganese Violet (CI 77742), Iron Oxide (CI 77491)

If you are interested to get one, please visit this site.

Thanks for reading and I'll try to put up another post soon.

Physiogel Blogger Workshop

Hi My Beauty Buddies,

Have you heard of Physiogel before?

My first encounter with Physiogel was when I received a sample of Physiogel Cream when I purchased Women's Weekly magazine one or 2 months ago. What attracted me most is their simple packaging. I like that the packaging is white and it looks like a product that can be trusted. This was my first impression of Physiogel products. I read the advertisement in the magazine and became quite interested in Physiogel. Little did I know that I would be invited to attend Physiogel Blogger Workshop organized by Physiogel and Nuffnang.

The event was held on 2 May at Le Meridian Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. It was one of the most informative workshops that I have attended so far. I really gained a lot of knowledge from listening to the sharing by Dr Leong, a pediatric dermatologist. He delivered such an interesting presentation on atopic dermatitis or more commonly known as atopic eczema. Some of you may have heard of it but I hope you are not an eczema sufferer.

Dr Leong showed us his patients' pictures which I felt sorry because they are tiny babies and they really suffered from dry and itchy skin. I do hope that they get better after using Physiogel AI - a more potent version only available under prescription by dermatologist.

During the workshop, I learnt that Physiogel cream/lotion is able to help eczema patient in the following ways:
  • Improve Skin Moisture Level
  • Reduce Itch
  • Reduce Inflammation
  • Repair the skin barrier function (to prevent loss of moisture and bacteris attack)
  • Repair dehydrated skin naturally and locks in moisture for up to 3 days

Presentation by Ms Florence Chan, Senior Product Manager of Stiefel
Physiogel lotion can be used for the whole body while Physiogel cream can be used for face, cracked heels and elbow. Physiogel products are manufactured by Stiefel Laboratories. It uses DMS technology (Derma Membrane Structure) that is similar to the skin lamellar structure. It is hypoallergenic, fragrance free and non-comedogenic. I have tried the Physiogel lotion and cream and found that both are equally good for keeping my skin moisturised.

In case you are interested, Physiogel products are available in Guardian, Watsons and Caring Pharmacies. The price ranges from RM18 to RM60.

I hope I would have more opportunity to attend interesting and informative workshop like this in the near future.

Have a lovely day!

The Sloane Clinic - Bangsar

Dear Beauty Buddies,

It’s already May and what have you been up to lately? As for me, I am pleased to tell you that I have something interesting to share. On 28 April 2012, I was given the opportunity by Jess to attend a beauty workshop at the Sloane Clinic located at Bangsar. The workshop was jointly organized by Nuffnang. It was a very busy day that day as I also attended another workshop till 1pm. As I have promised Jess, I rushed to Sloane Clinic without lunch. I arrived late as I was unsure of the place.

As I entered the Sloane Clinic, I was captivated by the beautiful voice that was conducting the presentation. At first, I thought that she was the PR personnel. Little did I know that she is Dr Low Chai Ling whose office is in the Sloane Clinic, Singapore. I must say that I am very impressed by her. She is young and beautiful and has a superb presentation skill! One will not fall asleep despite the event being held in the hot afternoon.

The Sloane Clinic™ is a comprehensive specialty chain of clinics focusing solely on all aspects of aesthetics, from cosmetic dermatology to plastic surgery. The Sloane Clinic™ chain of clinics in Singapore and Malaysia provides solutions for all your skin, face and body cosmetic concerns.

The Sloane Clinic™ aims to provide its client with the best of both worlds; a synergy of non-invasive cosmetic dermatology as well as cutting edge plastic surgery. They have a team of dedicated doctors and accredited plastic surgeons to bring you the solution to all your beauty needs.

If your skin needs some lifting, do check out this Ultherapy, a non-invasive face lift without surgery.

What is Ultherapy™? (Information obtained from the Sloane Clinic’s website)
Ultherapy™ is a breakthrough procedure that uses medical ultrasound for non-surgical cosmetic improvement of the skin. Ultherapy works deep below the surface - without harming the outer layer of skin-for dramatic and long-lasting benefits of facial firming, skin tightening and lifting.

Improvement around the eyes include lifting of the brow line to reduce droopiness on the eyelids, smoothing of crows' feet, and a more open, refreshed look to the eyes in general.

Sagging skin on the cheeks can be tightened and lifted, which in turn can improve folds from the nose to mouth, folds from the mouth to jaw, and drooping corners of the mouth. Often, a more defined jaw line and overall improvement in skin texture and evenness of colour are known additional benefits.

Ultherapy is FDA-approved for treatment of the upper face.

Natural Fillers
If you want to take away some years from your face, do check out how natural fillers can do wonders for you. However, they are not permanent, you may need to come back between 4 to 6 months to get another boost.

Apart from the treatments highlighted here, the Sloane Clinic has many other types of treatments that can be customised to your skin's needs. Although the treatment can cost more than your normal beauty salon, I would think that it is worth your money because you are treated by qualified doctors, you need not worry too much about the side effects. Besides, the treatment in normal beauty salon may not deliver the result that you want because the equipment that they use is different. Most high end equipments can only be handled by qualified doctors. So, I would think that if you can afford it, why not go for the real thing?

If you are interested to know more about the treatment for your skin, you can visit the Sloane Clinic's website
If you are in KL,  you can visit their clinic in Bangsar. You will be attended by Dr Kee Yong Seng, who is a friendly and patient doctor.
