Product Review: Clinique SPF40 Super City Block

Dear Beauty Buddies

I have not been reviewing products for quite some time already. Sorry for the MIA. Here is to share with you my thoughts on Clinique SPF40 Super City Block after almost finishing the 15ml sample.

Product Description:
A lightweight daily moisturizer that provides a high level of protection against sun and environmental damage. This product is oil-free and non-acnegenic.

What it is formulated to do:

This daily screen provides remarkable protection against both sun and environmental damage. Its sheer, weightless formula includes broad-spectrum UVA/UVB sun-blocking ingredients and antioxidants. Perfect for all skin types, even the most sensitive, this product can be worn alone or as an invisible makeup primer.

My Review:
I have a 15ml sample from GWP. I used this Clinique SPF40 Super City Block quite regularly and am quite happy with the texture. It has a slight tint that blends well with my skin color. It is not oily upon application. After 2 hours my skin starts to shine but it was not super oily. In terms of oil control, I would say it is not the best sunblock that I have tried but you must know that I have very oily skin. Therefore, for normal to combination skin person, you would love it. As hardly use liquid foundation, this tinted sunblock is quite handy for me when I want to have some light coverage.
Overall, I like this product because a 15ml sample tube lasts me quite a while as I only need a small bean size (Red bean /Adzuki bean) to cover the face and neck area.

Product Rating: 4/5
Have you tried this sunblock before? Do you like it? Pls share what is your favourite sunblock.
Thanks for reading and have a lovely day.

Product Review: Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Gel

Dear Friends

After a long hiatus, I am back to share with you another of my favourite product. It is not a new product but I still want to do a review as it will benefit some of you who have oily skin.

This bottle of Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Gel (DDMG) has been my companion for the last 4 months. Now it is almost empty. I use this moisturiser during the day time after using Clinique Repairwear Laser Focus serum.

The gel texture is not oily and fast absorbing.

What I like
Oil Free
Fragrance Free
Fast Absorbing
Keeps my skin hydrated and keeps the oil at bay
It has a slight tingling sensation upon application

Rating: 5/5

Price: RM170 for 125ml

This moisturiser is definitely a keeper.

Happy 55th Independence Day to Malaysia!

Product Review: Clinique Repairwear Laser Focus Wrinkle and UV Damage Corrector

Dear Friends

Hope you had a wonderful Christmas yesterday. I had a gastronomical feast yesterday at the Pearl of Orient i.e. Penang Island. But that will be for another post.

I had been wanting to share with you another serum that I like but had been procrastinating a lot. Since it is a holiday today, I have decided to do a review.

I bought the Clinique Laser Focus serum after reading a review by another blogger and hearing good testimonies by Juli, a blogger friend. I have finished using the bottle and wanted to repurchase this but delayed my repurchase due to too many unopened serums that I still have in my beauty shelf. However, I will definitely repurchase some time next year.

See the watery texture

Product Description
Potent serum gives every skin a second chance against lines, wrinkles, sun damage. In 4 weeks, see obvious reduction in lines, wrinkles, improved texture. At 12 weeks, the visible wrinkle-reducing power is remarkably close to a dermatological laser procedure. 63%, to be exact. Different commitment, different results. And yet impressive results guaranteed.

Ingredients:
Water, Dimethicone, Butylene Glycol, Polysorbate 20, Methyl Trimethicone, Vinyl Dimethicone/Methicone Silsesquioxane Crosspolymer, Bis-PEG-18 Methyl Ether Dimethyl Silane, Glycerin, Silica,Polymethylsilsesquioxiane, Lauryl PEG-9 Polydimethylsiloxyethyl Dimethicone, Methyl Gluceth-20, Polysilicone-11, Sigesbeckia Orientalis (St. Paul’s Wort) Extract, Retinyl Palmitate, Plankton Extract, Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Juice Extract, Arabidopsis Thaliana Extract, Sea Whip Extract, Whey Protein/Lactis Protein/Proteine Du Petit-Lait, Pinanediol, Camphanediol, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Protein, Ergothioneine, Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, Caffeine, Micrococcus Lysate, Palmitoyl Oligopeptide, Anthemis Nobilis (Chamomile), Linoleic Acid, Sodium Mannose Phosphate, Ethylhexylglycerin, Caprylyl Glycol, Carbomer,Glyceryl Polymethacrylate, Cholesterol, Aminopropyl Ascorbyl Phosphate,Hyaluronic Acid, Sodium Hyaluronate, Tocopheryl Acetate, PEG-8, Xanthan Gum, Sodium Citrate, Sodium Carbomer, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol.

What I like
1. The serum has a smooth texture and spreads easily. It absorbs easily too. The texture is quite similar to Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair (ANR) but it does more work than ANR.
2. It has no fragrance and no color and not oily at all
3. I like Clinique Laser Focus better than ANR because it can be applied at the eye area. Most serum cannot be used at the eye area.
4. Fine lines around my eyes appear less visible
5. The pump dispenser allows you to get accurate amount of product
6. It hydrates my skin well and my complexion looks clearer

Although this serum has not erased all my fine lines, I believe that consistent use will reduce the appearance of new lines.

What I Dislike
None at the moment

The Clinique Laser Focus retails at RM200 for 30ml. It is much cheaper in Singapore Airport.

My overall Rating: 4/5

Happy Holiday!

Product Review: Clinique Youth Surge

Dear Friends

I have a short product review to share with you. Today I'll talk about the Clinique Youth Surge. I have tried this sample day cream with SPF15 PA++.

Product texture: Creamy (not suitable for my oily skin. My face turned shinny after 1 hour, too bad)
I believe people with normal to dry skin will love this product

Product scent: to me it smells a little like plastic

Personally I think in terms of free sampling, Clinique is one of the most generous brand. This is a 7ml sample given to me without any purchase.

As a day cream, I think SPF15 is rather too low for the Malaysian hot weather. We may still get sun burn/pigmentation if we do not top up with a good sun block. I don't quite understand why they bother to create only SPF 15 which does not make much sense. Anyone has a good explanation, pls share. In my opinion this is like giving some coverage but "half heartedly". Sorry if any Clinique representative is reading my post now, would you care to share the reason behind the low SPF in this day cream?

Anyway, have a lovely weekend! and thanks for your lovely visit.

Clinique Long Last Lipstick in Pink Spice

Dear Readers

I thought today I will do a mini review of a Clinique lipstick that I got for free during one of their roadshows in 2010.

The color I got is called Pink Spice. When I look at the color, I was not very excited as it looks dull. When I applied on my lips , they look quite natural. The texture is very smooth and there is no wierd scent or taste.
It is also not drying to my lips. This is something that is different from other long lasting lipstick.

As for the staying power, I can't comment much because everytime before I eat, I will tissue off my lipstick first. This is my habit since long time ago, my reason is that I wouldn't want to eat wax! What about you, do you tissue off your lip color before eating?

Thanks for reading. Yahoo! Thursday is a Holiday for those who are in Malaysia!

Clinique Superfit (No 5) and Estee Lauder Double Wear 2.0

If you read my post frequent enough, you will know that I hardly use liquid foundation. I had this phobia of liquid foundation because I am afraid that it will clog my pores and makes my oily face even more oily.

So, I seldom buy liquid foundation except Revlon Color Stay which I did a review earlier. I only used it when I am attending my friend's wedding or any event.

I got samples of Clinique Superfit (Color No 5) and Estee Lauder Double Wear 2.0 sometime ago and will share with you my thoughts.

Both foundation are for oily skin.

Swatches of both foundation are shown below

I personally like the clinique foundation better for 3 reasons:
1. It controls oil better (I do not have to blot my face for 4 to 5 hrs)
2.The colour blends into my skin and looks as though I am not using anything
3. The color also did not oxidized

Both foundation blends easily but Estee Lauder double wear appears thicker and heavy on the face. The Clinique Superfit blends super well into my skin and looks very natural.

I also did an "oil content test". I put the foundation on a blotting paper and left them for about 7 hours. Both foundations passed the test with flying colors. You can't really see the oil patches.

So, if you have very oily skin like me, I would recommend you to try Clinique Superfit. If I remember correctly it is RM109 for 30ml.

Would you like to share with me your skin type (oily, dry, combination, sensitive etc) and your HG or star liquid foundation?

Thanks
