Product Review: Savon de Marseille

A few weeks ago, I received some made in France natural bath soaps. I was so glad that they sent me the Lavender scented soap. Although I am not a regular soap user, unlike my mom, I was pleasantly surprise that the soap lathers well and it is not drying to my skin.

As soon as I opened the parcel, I could smell the pleasant scent. It is truly a treat to my senses even without using them. I unwrapped them and took some pictures before using them during shower.

 

Some details about the product:

Le Chatelard 1802 manufactures natural soaps, for body and home, using the traditional recipe of Savon de Marseille.

Savon de Marseille is truly an authentic French soap because every bar of soap is hand made in Saint-Auban sur Ouvèze, in Provence (France) using 72% vegetable oil.

Because of its formula at neutral pH, which does not dry the skin, these soaps provide an intense source of hydration and softness. Delicately perfumed with flowers, fruits, etc... they offer a rich lather that nourishes, moisturizes and perfumes the skin.

The 3.5oz soaps are made using a traditional recipe from Savon de Marseille. Only the highest quality natural ingredients that are found in Provence - France are used to produce these soaps. The non-drying formula provides an intense source of hydration leaving your skin super soft. You will feel pampered everytime you wash with one of these French bars of soap because they have a rich lather that nourishes and perfumes the skin.

My Review:

I really love the Lavender soap as it has grainy texture from the plant and it acts as a scrub soap. The smell is very calming and helps to relax my mind after a hard day's work. The scent lingers in my bathroom for a while after each use. It is very surprising to me that the soap is moisturising and not drying at all. 

For those who loved to treat your senses during shower, you would love these soaps. You can even store the soaps in your cupboard to scent your clothes.

Why do I think that Savon de Marseille is worth recommending to you? This is because:

Product Review: Talika Skin Retouch

As promised I have tried out the Skin Retouch by Talika. The product promises to give me perfect skin in a flash. Is it true?

Talika Skin Retouch is specially designed for face, hands and neck. 

It promises to deliver the following: 

1. instantly erases fine lines and wrinkles

2. instantly evens out skin tone by hiding shadows

3. gives your skin smoothing and matifying effect

4. in 28 days: anti-aging and whitening effect

2 things that you must remember when using Talika Skin Retouch:

a. This product is a skin primer to be applied after your skincare and sunblock. Thereafter, no liquid product can be applied. For those who love to use liquid foundation, this is not for you.

b. Apply the product using the applicator, do not use your fingers.

It is suitable for face, hands and neck.

Before - skin without makeup, only moisturiser and sunblock

My skin is the oily type with open pores and deep scarring from acne. Therefore, there are redness and patches. After using my skincare and sunblock, I smoothen a layer of Talika Skin Retouch using the applicator. The application was easy with some practice. The product dries very fast and almost immediately I had better looking skin. The redness and the oily shine are gone. My skin although far from "perfect" (as promised by the product) looks matte and calm as shown below.

My joy was short-lived because after 1 hour, my skin started to look shinny and the red patches returned again as shown in the following picture.

After 1 hour of application - skin turned oily and shinny

Therefore, I conclude that Talika Skin Retouch is not designed for oily skin although it claimed that the retouching effect can last "all day long". If you have oily skin and wish to try this product, I recommend that you use some loose powder to prevent your skin from looking shinny easily. You may need to use a facial blotter to blot out the oil from time to time to keep the matte look. 

Nevertheless, this is an innovative product from Talika. I hope they will create a new formula for oily skin.

Product Review: Empro Medic Pore Designer

Today I will be sharing with you about Empro Medic Pore Designer which was sent to me for my review. I am not sure whether you have heard of Empro which was founded by Prof Coco Alex – a distinguished icon in the beauty industry particularly eyebrow and lip micro pigmentation.

Product Description

The revolutionary EMPRO Medic Pore Designer is a skin smoothening primer that is especially designed for dual purposes – to cover wrinkles, blemishes and fine lines and at the same time absorbs oil, tightens pores and hides unsightly lines especially around the eye area.

 

It utilises the principal of optical blurring so that the different particle sizes contained in this special primer is able to cover even the most minute wrinkles and fine lines. The special sebum control porous shaped primer enables it to absorb excess oil and refines pores for a smoother and radiant skin texture.

The EMPRO Medic Pore Designer also designed to protect the skin, particularly the delicate eye area from harmful environmental factors.

The product comes with two ends, one specifically for pore tightening and the other to cover wrinkles. Apply to clear skin before makeup application

1. To cover pores, apply "Tighten Pores" before makeup application with circular motion.

2. To cover lines, use "Covers Wrinkle" on eye and forehead area. Blend the product evenly with fingers

Pro:

2. effective to soften the fine lines around eye area and forehead

3. Applicator is soft and feels comfortable on skin

5. Skin appears smoother (although not very noticible on my camera)

6. Can prep up your skin to become a smoother canvas before makeup application for your special occasion

Con: 

1. If you use too much product, some residue will appear as flakes

2. If you have oily skin like me, your skin will turned shinny after 1 -2 hrs

3. Not very effective for covering large pores (like mine)

This product is more suitable for those with normal skin with little scars. It is not too effective for people with oily skin and pitted scar.

Talika Skin Retouch - Product Launch

It's mid July already and I hope you are doing well.

I have been busy with household chores the whole day and am using my spare time to share with you an interesting event that I have attended recently.

The product is to be applied using the soft silicon applicator, do not use fingers. The applicator is very soft and easy to use. The tube can be turned off and on. It is a very easy to use product. After applying the product, no liquid product is to be applied. Therefore, I think this is not suitable for those who need to use liquid foundation. Sunblock must be applied before applying this product if using it during the day time.

We have tried out the product during the event and were quite impressed. However, it worked differently for different skin types. I have have tried it at home and have written a review. Please click here to learn more.

Male Waxing, Is It Now The Norm?

Do you think that male waxing has become the norm today? I am not too sure but according to recent surveys,  more and more modern men have found a number of benefits to waxing. Male waxing allows men to remove unsightly and embarrassing body hair without the disadvantages that are associated with other hair removal techniques, such as shaving.

There are a number of reasons why waxing has become the norm for men. One reason is because spouses frequently prefer men without hair. However, instead of shaving, which can lead to prickly body hair and unsightly bumps, men have begun to utilize waxing services because it provides longer results, rarely results in bumps, and the hair grows back thinner, rather than darker and sharper. 

 

Vanity is another reason that men are seeking waxing services. Whether going to the gym or taking a jog around the neighbourhood, no man wants to bear their chest when it is covered with hair. A hairless chest also makes it easier to show off a great physique instead of hiding it behind a mass of hair.

Some men find waxing convenient because it can help them to sweat less. Having a chest or back covered in hair can actually make a person sweat more, which can be both unattractive and inconvenient. However, waxing is also convenient for those who simply want to enjoy a leisurely swim at the local pool or at the beach. Not only does a hairless body feel better in the water, but it looks better as well!

The stereotypes revolving around waxing are quickly breaking down. It is no longer exclusively for us women but is quickly becoming the norm for men as well. Whether doing it for themselves or doing it for the benefit of their significant other, men are quickly realizing the benefits to hair waxing.
